The general manager of PT Pelindo lll Benoa, said after deepening the channel, maintenance of the dock and the provision of a special passenger cruise terminal complete with an x-ray machine, we can now comfortably accommodate large cruise ships.

With the channel being dredged, large ships can now be docked at the jetty. Previously, large ships could only be anchored out to sea, meaning passengers were transported by small boat to Benoa dock. The harbour expects 31 cruise liners to visit Benoa during 2013.

The number of tourists arriving by sea is also increasing. In 2011 and 2012 for example, the number of ships to arrive over the two year period totalled 35 in mumber. The total number of passengers increased from 23,600 in 2011 to 27,600 in 2012.
