Bali Governor Mr Pastika, has stated that Bali will be targeting 4 million foreign tourists and up to 10 million domestic visitors during 2015. Mr. Pastika said he was “optimistic” about reaching the target of 4 million foreign tourists, because the infrastructure for tourism in Bali such as roads and hotels is becoming better and general quality is improving. Domestically, several provinces in Indonesia are planning to feature Bali as a tourism promotion, not to mention that in 2015, Bali will host the Miss World pageant and the highly anticipated Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. According to Mr. Pastika, during 2014 the number of foreign tourist arrivals to Bali could reach 3 million. Based on data from the Bali Tourism Agency, tourist arrivals to Bali between January and May this year reached more than 1.1 million tourists, an increase of 9.7 percent over the same period last year. Providing the political, security, and social stability remain positive, we believe in 2015 we can achieve 5 million foreign tourists. The governor also mentioned that with the more frequent international events being being held in Bali are helping the image of Bali tourism. With improved infrastructure, improved roads and a better electricity service, mean that I am optimistic and not dreaming, the govenor said.
