Police have coordinated with the Chinese Embassy in relation to Monday’s minibus accident in Uluwatu. “We have communicated with the Chinese Embassy to inform them of Monday’s accident and they have in turn expressed their gratitude for our efforts in investigating the accident” said Police Chief Djoko Hariutomo. The accident involving the minibus operated by PT. Happy Bali Travel occured at 3pm with 15 people aboard, including 13 Chinese tourists, a driver and a tour guide, both Indonesian. The evacuation efforts were reportedly hampered by rain which made it difficult for resuce workers to reach the victims due to the 15-metre-deep ravine the minibus fell into. In addition to coordinating with the Chinese Embassy, Denpasar Police have also coordinated with the travel agency, PT. Happy Bali Travel. Police Chief Hariutomo said we have also begun coordinating with the travel agency and they have responded well to our investigation. Reports have confirmed that four of the Chinese tourists as well as the driver of the minibus, Agus Bachtiar, and the tour guide, Elen were killed as a result of the accident.
