A women from South Africa was recently sentenced to 16 years in prison after being convicted of smuggling drugs. The judge stated that the defendant was found guilty of importing 4.06 grams of shabu-shabu.
There are many warnings to all travellers to Bali relating to the harsh punishments being handed out by the courts to drug smugglers but for some reason this warning often falls on deaf ears. Please note that if you are a drug user of small or large quantities or worse still a drug dealer, you would be best advised to stay away from Bali forever because of the seriousness of this offence in Indonesia as no doubt drug offenders serving long sentences in Kerobokan Prison would agree.
