Kerobokan overcapacity problems has prompted officials to consider building a new prison as soon as possible.
Apparently, prisoners serving sentences for drug related crimes will be relocated to a special narcotics prison. The new facility will be located in Bangli with construction beginning in 2013. A special penitentiary for women and children is also planned to be built.
Eventually, Kerobokan prison will be used for general crime. Today there are 1709 inmates in Kerobokan Prison.
